Sin Bin

Did anyone else here have a "sin bin" van in the 1970's (or still have one today). I was remembering my 1974 E-100. It had airbrushed murals outside, dark wood paneling and **** carpeting inside. The tires were "Pos-a-traction Torque Twister" on aluminum wheels with bean-shaped holes in them. Ah, to be young again.

Yes. I have been looking for sites/forums on this subject forever with no luck.

Everytime I see an old *******' Wagon I am reminded of my youth. I had 4 vans when I was a kid. Two Fords and two Dodges. I always wonder when someone is gonna start snatchin' them up and restoring them. They are everywhere, but usually in tatters.

I've come full circle... I've had every toy rig in the book, from a van, van with tailer, camper-on pickup truck, pickup truck with trailer, motorhome with trailer, pickup truck with enclosed trailer, mini pickup with trailer etc. Too much work to go play!
Thirty years of drivin' and I'm right back where I started, by choice. I'm drivin' a Ford E-250 cargo type van, with a custom interior by yours truly, and pullin' a trailer. Sweet! It takes me 15 minutes to load up for the weekend and 15 minutes to unload on Sunday night. They can have their giant busses, trailers and motorhomes. I choose to spend my weekends playing, not maintaining.

The Van will never die!

All most a million miles, 4 custom Ford vans , 1 Ford truck, 1 pop-p camper, 3 travel trailers, 2 motor homes, and 2 pontoon boats later I'm back to a custom Ford van and 28 ft travel trailer. It's by far the best setup!!

My current daily driver is a 78 E150 conversion with swiveling captains chairs in the front and nothing in the back. The inside is completly covered in carpet and diamond tuck vinyl. There are 3 pairs of reading lights, barn doors on the side, table mounts in the floor, and a pair of rectangle windows over the back wheels and down the driver side. It is black with a big ol' multi-colored stripe that makes a big "L" from back to front. It currently has 4 different rims and is rusty as hell. I don't see it as ever being "restored" It gets used for going to and from work, band hauling, and the occasional junk move. At 295k miles the 351w with an Edelbrock Performer and Holley 600 hooked up to a C6 still runs like a champ.....a leaky champ.

Now if I could just get the brakes sorted.......

my current daily is a 1975 ford e100- 2 buckets in front, **** interior, and a couch in the back... porthole window, broken skylight (thanks to a former friend), used to get me to and from work and whenever someone needs crap moved. runs as well as an inline 6 with over 435,000 miles can- loudly and leaking like a sieve. its got a 3 on the tree with completely shot syncros- have to double clutch to get it into gear... and its blue and rust to match my 78 f250 4x4 :-)

I had a 77 Chevy G10, 350 4bbl., short wheel base that we put the usual interior in. Had custom upolstered swivel buckets in front, the home built convertable bench/bed set-up in back, ice box, and a small clothes closet. Yup, blue **** carpet on the floor with nice wood paneling on the walls. Also sunroof and roof vent. Enjoyed this van sooooo much!

I'm on a message board of die hard vanners, "It's Still Alive," there are still evants and truckin's, I went to one called GSVR II weekend before last. You need to look on vannin.com for an event near you, and attend, you will not be disappointed, but I'm affraid you'll have to wait till next year, the season is over.

1978 Silver short box Econoline E 150...

I've pulled out (most of) the bordello fittings, replaced the seats, about to replace the leaking gas tank...

And the red **** rug has to go also!
