Hello, I am in the process of updating a 66 SWB, 300 6cyl. with a 1972 C4 trans and power steering. Power steering and column swap is going fine, but the C4 was unable to be installed from below. It was only about 1 inch too big. I pulled the motor and would like to install engine & trans together. Is this possible, or will I have to put the trans in thru engine compartment loose and then lower motor in and connect??. Also, original driveshaft looks like it will be a too close to call fit back in. Any Ideas?? I can answer any questions regarding PS and column swap if anyone has any..

Jim, since your truck came as a three speed the frame member under the bell was rivited in. You can cut the rivits and replace them with class8 bolts and install your tranny from the bottom. My tranny shop did that when they had to pull the C6 in my 66 that I installed with the new engine. You will need a end on your driveshaft different from the st. dr. You will have to have a length change most likely anyway.

were there any "gotchas" on the column swap/PS install? i'm going to the local yard to pull parts for my PS conversion this weekend.
