I replaced my stock air filter with a K&N one in my 02' F350 7.3, but I noticed there are two cables hooked up to the stock air filter box. What should I do with them? Just leave them hanging?
One is the Intake restriction indicator locate it near where it can sense the airflow through the filter 9post-filter). the other is the intake air temp sensor it need to be in the box pre-filte so air can flow over it.
K&N's do not filter well enuff for these trucks so if you live in dusty conditions most here will recoomend replacing it. deffinantly make a habit to keep it cleaned. alot of horror stories on here about K&N's and dusted motors

Then I guess I should either get an AFE no? or AIS?
Just do the quoted kwik filter as we call it. Napa gold 6637 aka 46637 from Fleetfilters.com Many of us do this instead of spending the big money on a brand name. In fact my aftermaket came with the truck junk is kicked into a corner of the garage and Ive had the 6637 on for over a 100k and just ordered a new one.
There is some question about the 6637 drawing in warm/hot air from around the engine thus the turbo is seeing warmer and thus less dense air resulting in a derease in power. Is there any validity to this? Comments appreciated. Thanks,
Not really, Steve. A number of folks have done tests reading the outside air temp and the underhood intake air temps, and found that the intake temps never really get more than 10* higher than the outside temps. At higher speeds there is almost no difference in the intake and outside air temps.
Have you checked out the Common Mods thread? There's a link to it in the sticky at the top.
Same here, except for the time that I went through some sort of insect hatch, clouds of bugs, and then the filter minder moved. Took some work to clean them all off the front of the truck, front of the radiator, and bottom of the air filter as well.
