2000 Excursion dies after a second

It ran great through yesterday, but problems started today. I started it up and went to drive off when I noticed that it wouldn't accelerate and no gauges were working. I shut it down to reset it and now it shuts down after a second. I have another 2000 PSD Excursion that I wrecked that I have been using as a hanger queen. So far I have replaced the PCM, CPS, Fuel Filter, checked fuse #22, and check the oil level in the high-pressure oil system. There is no Wait to start light, and none of the gauges are registering anything. Any help would be appreciated.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

with no WTS light and no gauges the generally pcm is not getting power so it should not start at all??? Do any of the pre start lights work? check fuse 15 and also the relays under the hood

The airbag light comes on then goes off after a couple of seconds like always, and the battery light comes on and stays on. I checked fuse 15 under the dash and it was good. The fuse 15 slot under the hood has never had a fuse in it as far as I know.

sounds like a faulty gpr. since you have done cps and pcm, its the next culprit.

It ended up being a 10A under dash fuse that I overlooked. I don't know what it controls, but that small oversight cost me 8 hours of troubleshooting and a lot of parts to put back into my other Excursion. Live and learn.

Irish, share the info. We've seen this before but it sometimes ends up being different things. I am curious as to which fuse it was. Which fuse # was it?

I just went back out to check the number and I can't remember exactly which one it was. It was either under dash Fuse #18 or #19. Does anyone know what these fuses correlate to? It killed all my gauges and and possibly the fuel supply.

15, 19, and 30 are all tied to pcm functions
This thread here either 19 or 15 was causing a KAM error

After a long trip to and from Vegas, and a lot of blown fuses, I've narrowed it down a little more. It is fuse 19 that is blowing.
Fuse 19 is for: Instrument Cluster, GEM Module, Overdrive Cancel Switch, PATS/PATS Transiever, and the Idle Validation Switch (Diesels only).
Since I was stuck on the side of the road with one fuse left and did't know where the GEM, PATS, or IVS were, I tried the Overdrive Cancel Switch. Inoticed that I could drive in Reverse, 1st, and 2nd gear without it blowing. I finally put it in drive and hit th O/D off button at the same time and it didn't blow. The drive was a little slower for the next couple hours, but it got me home. I went out this morning and Ohmed out th O/D On/Off switch and it checked out good. Does anyone know if there is a relay in the path that could be shorted? I looked throgh my "trusty" Haynes manual with no luck. I'm trying to get a FSM, does anyone have any tips in the meantime?

I was in a high speed roll, so there isn't much left of the body, but everything else is good. I will probably get a truck or van body to put on that frame and drivetrain. I think a 4wd PSD E-350 on 38" tires would be cool, but I have a lot of research ahead to see if it will work. I know Sportsmobile is doing some 4wd conversions, but I think they start with the van chassis.

Check inside the steering column, the wires frequently chafe, fray and short out there.

We have a winner. I just found it, thank you to everyone who helped me out. Kwikkordead was right; the wires running down from the O/D On/Off switch were worn between the plug on the console plug and the bottom of the shift lever. I unplugged it and the problem went away. As long as I get it replaced before I have to tow again, I should be all right without it.<O</O
