hey guys, havent seen any in ct yet, but i hear ULSD is soon on its way. i also read some scary papers from a friend of mine who builds firetrucks for E-ONE. said something about the fords holding up the worst to the new fuel. anybody else hear the same? (or differently?). if these reports are true, what does that mean for our trucks? anything we can do?
It's already here. You've been buying it since june 1, 2006. The pumps don't have the ULSD sticker yet cuz the stations have to clean the inground tanks before they are certified. Have you noticed a decrease in milage, about 1-2 less MPG is the norm.
There's nothing you can do but add sulfur, but that ain't happening, that I know of. The other additives we commonlly use (diesel Kleen ect) won't help the lack of sulfur. Our trucks shouldn't have the problems that diesels with mechanical injections pumps may see. It's an oring shrinkage thing not just a lubricity concern. Only time will tell though.
