6v to 12v conversion

can a 12v generator be used for the conversion. i want to use oem parts were possible.

what are you working on? you can use a 12 volt if you use a 12 volt reg that matches to the gen. some reg. use the ground side of the field and some use the power side.

my truck is 6v at the moment, but i have alot of corroded and dry rotted wires, i want to rewire the hole truck and go ahead and make it a 12v.
