What is the difference between the DuraSpark and DuraSpark II ignition systems? The module on the fender of my 1983 Ford F150 says Dura Spark. Did this system come standard with this truck of was it a conversion?
Yes it came out with a DuraSpark ignition system. If it is from California you have an EEC III and out of Calif. it was for the most part DuraSpark II ignition system.
If it has a blue grommet it is a DuraSpark II ignition system.
If it has a brown grommet it is an EEC III ignition system.
EDIT:
If it has a vacuum diaphragm on the distributor it is a DuraSpark II ignition system.
If it does not have one and no primary wires to the distributor it is an EEC III ignition system (DuraSpark III ignition system).
