I Just Notice A Winning Noise While I'm Driving Down The Road. The Noise Speeds Up With The Speed Of The Truck And Gets To A Moderate Hum.i've Changed The Tires And Wheels And Didn't Help.this Is A 1997 F150 3 Door Truck With About 150k Miles.can Anyone Help?
under the cab? Check the driveshaft universal joints. Mine's doing the same thing (1998 F-150 4x4 @ 101K). I just replaced the front brakes thinking it was that. And the annoying thing, it comes and goes. let us know what you find out.
Is there any gear lube in the rear end? How about the transfer case if 4x4? If you haven't serviced these items they will start to whine. If it's gears whining you will have to live with it or do a replacement.
whining under cab-- is there a bearing in the end tail peice of an auto transmission of a 1997 f150 that could be causing the noise? i'm having new gear oil put in the rear end to see if the noise changes or stop.
Well I Had The Gear Oil Changed In The Rear End And It Didn't Help. We Think It Is An Axle Bearing Going Bad. How Hard Is This To Fix? Can Anyone Expain What Might Be Involved?
My 97 F150 Has A Whining Noise Under The Cab So I Thought It Was In The Rearend So I Had The Axle Bearings Changed And I Still Have The Noise.it Has An Auto Trans And Only Makes A Noise When The Truck Is Moving And Sounds Like A Bearing Whining. Could This Be In The Trans And If So Would You Change The Trans. Fluid? I Have Had The Truck Right At A Year And It Has 153,000 Miles On It.
I have a 97 ford 4x4 and just started having a similiar noise, looks like I have a leak near my transfer case .It may be a seal gone or maybe a bearing looking for some input.
I traced my whining noise to my transfer case. Has old nasty fluid in it, so I'm gonna have it flushed out and replaced with new. The problem is getting to the friggin' thing to be able to fill it back up after I empty it out. Friggin' frame member and skid plate! *Shakes fist*
it's a slow whine when you start moving and speeds up as the truck does and then the sound levels off to a steady hum. i have the rear outer axle bearings replace thinking that was the problem. but the sound didn,t change and it sounds like it's right under the back seat.my truck is a three door and the joints in the drive shaft seems to be o.k. by just shaking the drive shaft.
my truck is a two wheel drive and and has an auto trans. i thought maybe to change the fluid but afraid to as the truck has 153000 miles and i'm worried the trans might start acting up if i do. right now the trans. changes out and doesn't slip. what do you think?
