Purdue, I think I understand what you are saying... that makes sense!
vettdvr, no, the main chain was not broken and it didn't jump off the sprocket. The the chain was the only thing holding the part of the half of the t case with the fron drive shaft.
yeah, I had to cut the casing to get the chain off the drive for the front. This way I was able to get my truck on the a car trailer. (The Dodge truck owner loved the fact that his "DODGE" was towing a ford.) He'll get his day
I had this happen to a friend with his Exploder. His mom was driving at the time. The tranny shop he took it to changed out the T-case, took it for a drive and blew it up again. They reinstalled a new T-case and disconnected the ESOF. They told him it was beyond their understanding and to take to Ford to have the ESOF fixed. Never got it fixed, so dont know what the solution was.
Oh, ok.... is the servo part of that? Becuase I have a new servo along with the new transfercase. I can't beleive i couldn't figure out what ESOF meant... lol
I bet she had the same thing happen......does the ESOF control some auto hubs? If they do then when it was on it would spin the DS and if the CV was locked like I'm imagining his was, then it would destroy the case....but if you turn off the ESOF and it would disengage the hubs then the ds wouldn't be forced to spin so it wouldn't bind and snap the t-case
Yep, I have 4 of the same tires and wheels! And yes when the ESOF is on 4HI the hubs are supposed to automatically lock by vacumn and solenoids, and unlock when switched to 2HI....... this is when hubs are physically in the "AUTO" position.
In Fords when you reach highway speeds 55mph plus the transfer case engages and spins the front shafts. This has nothing to do with the ESOTF. If your hammering on it and it engages there is a lot of stress on it and thats what causes snaps.

Radmacks, all due respect bro, that aint true anymore.
Since this thread is over 5 years old, you may not know that Ford waived their magic wand back in '07 and changed how that operates on all the old Super Duty rigs!
