My wife and I are thinking of a cruise next year for our 25th anniversary. It would most likely be a Caribbean cruise. I know that this time of the year is Hurricane season, so it would be the wrong time to go. Any one been on one, and if so any recommendations on a cruise line or time of year? We sort of need to have it planned by mid October, as this is when we pick vacation time for next year.
Mid October is generally toward the end of hurricane season.
Usally travel packages are the best way to go as far as expensives & getting the most for your bucks.
Talk with some travel agencies for more detailed \ expert advice.
October isn't a bad time to go. It's possible that your scheduled ports could change if there is a hurricane. Hurricanes move MUCH slower than cruise ships, so if there's a hurricane in the vicinity they alter the stops to stay away. No big deal.
As for times of the year to cruise, generally prices are lower when schools are open. The prices rise over holidays, spring break and the summer months. Fall is an OK time to go. Just remember, there's a possibility of rough seas or a change if itinerary. I always recommend cruise insurance, just in case. A great place for info is the message board at CruiseCritic.com
Just remember cruises are like potato chips, you can't have just one!
