can you test a COP???
Hi guys, i have problems with a cop, but i don't know which one, and i see other people on here having problems with them. Is there any way to test them? can a ford dealer test them?

if you have old spark plugs, that is the first thing to change. if the miss gets bad enough, the computer will give a code telling you which cylinder is the problme. you can then replace the COP, or put it on another cylinder and see if the code moves to it. dont know if FORD can test the COP or not, dont think Auto Zone can do it.

You wont always get the computer to show a misfire code believe me i just had a an instance with a bad coil but no code or engine light.
You can test resistance on the primary side and secondary side this is what i was doing before i got a code to show up.

Ford dealers CAN test COPs.
I used to do drivability at a dealer and I used a piece of equipment called WDS to do a stress test on Coil packs.
Normally if the COP goes out,you WILL get a misfire code.
If you dont get a code,and have a misfire,more than likely the COP boot is got a pin hole in it.

How long were you at a dealer for? What do you do now?
It seems like WDS coil stress testers aren't real common, at least in my area.
Stylintoys, your dealer can do a cylinder power balance test while driving the truck and usually a misfire shows up very easily.
