Autospring or Skyjacker?

What did you buy? I bought a 2.5 Autospring kit for my 2006 Screw, I wonder if the Skyjacker would give me a little more lift....

So what did you buy and are you happy with it?

Your talking about the Skyjacker 2.5" leveling kit, not the 3" lift kit right?
Either way, I recently took off my 3" skyjacker coilovers off, and put a Autospring 2.5" leveling kit on with the factory coilovers and I am actually getting a 1/8 inch more height out the autospring. I went to get it aligned and they said it was still in spec. Part of it could be that my factory springs were sitting in my garage uncompresed for over a year.. They might take a couple weeks to settle back down.

The skyjacker leveling kit is the same as the daystar leveling kit that many people are using. From what I hear and have seen the autosprings seem to be getting more height out of them.

If you can spend the extra money, I would go with the 3 inch skyjacker. I am a little bias because I have the 3 inch lift and love it. Rides great and looks awesome. Next purchase will be new 18 inch rims and 35's, which will be a while because the BFG at ko's take forever to wear out. Good luck and keep us posted.

If you are looking to level your truck and to also be able to fit larger tires, then go with the Autospring 2.5". that is what i did. But, if you are looking for more suspension travel for off roading and also for a smoother ride, go with Skyjacker

I too am biased, but I did a TON of reading and asking questions of everybody I could before I got the 3" lift. I think that if all you want is looks and you dont care about the ride or rubbing of the tires then Id get the 2.5. If you want a sweet ride and more travel on your suspension then get the 3". I saved up for the skyjacker 3" and I am so impressed with it. Ride is no different than factory than I can tell. It did cost a bit more but to me you dont ruin the truck by adding spacers, the 3" lift actually rebuilds the suspension in the front and makes it all work the way it was designed. The spacers for the 2.5 twist the a arms and other things and seemed to me that it would wear stuff out faster than having a complete system. Check out pics in my gallery, if you want more or specifc pics let me know.

Not to turn this into a "defend the 3"SJ thread" but I disagree with you on some points. I think the skyjacker is a nice kit, but it has its flaws. First off, there are no drop brackets, meaning its just a longer coilover from the factory. IT BY NO MEANS IS A COMPLETE SYSTEM. You said the leveling kit, "twists the a arms", what do you mean by that? It is doing the same as the skyjacker coilovers. The skyjacker does give you more travel, but some of that isn't wanted. 3" is a lot of angle to put on the ball joints, cv joints, etc. Granted my 2.5" is still at 3" but I think it'll go down a little. Most people are not getting that out of a 2.5".

I loved my 3" SJ lift, but after having a tie-rod end go bad, and 2 shocks leak all the fluid out, in a matter of 2 months I started to have my doubts.. It looked great, but the 2.5" leveling kit w/ the skyjacker add-a-leaf I have now, is what I believe I should have done the first time.

Another thing about the 3" skyjacker that started to bother me, was that the front coilovers were really stiff. This casued the road to actually feel smoother (good thing), but the bumps were really throwing the front end around. BUMP STEER is terrible with the 3" sj. After going back to the factory coilovers w/ 2.5" A.S. I realized how much of a softer ride I gave up.

Here's my gallery on a different site with plenty of pics of the 3" SJ. I have not taken any pics since I put the A.S. on, but the only difference is that you can't see the red spring anymore.

I dont know what you are exactly talking about , but my stock ride has not changed due to installing the 2.5" Autosprings. Also, I been checking for wears on both UCA and LCA and there are none and my 33" do not rub at all even at full turns .

Sweet man! I dont know how they dont rub since I have the 3" and at 3/4 turn my 33's were rubbing on the trim piece. Trimmed it and now its fine. But I'm glad that you dont have any issues! :-)

Yes, you have to get an alignment. Just your "toe" should be off, just like a leveling kit. It should not require any camber or alignment kits. I think I paid $45 for mine at the dealership after I installed mine.

HMFX4IC, has it correct. I just responded to another post on this earlier in the week. The skyjacker is not a "real" lift kit. It does not drop the lower control arms so all you do by installing it is waste money because you could have gotten the autospring and the same results. And still have the factory ride. That 3" setup puts way too much angle on the cv's for me. If your 4 wheel never gets engaged, you"ll never wear them out. But if you use it they'll go sooner than they should have. The 3" lift does not correct the angle of the front suspension, or rebuild it. The diff would have to be dropped, and the lower control arms lowered accordingly to bring all suspension angles back to factory tolerances. As to any more articulation out of it, I would guess not, due to the fact that the lower ball joint is designed to be at the center of it's socket at factory ride height, and when you use any spacer or "fake lift", you change where the ball joint sits in the socket at ride height. So you put the ball joint closer to binding against it's socket, and when it binds articulation stops, and i have no doubt it will bind up, then due to this happening repeatedly, the ball joint wears out. How much does a lower balljoint cost from ford? And how many times can you do them before the arm won't hold it tight anymore? What about the upper balljoint/ control arm. I guess some will find out. Not tryin to be a dick, but some things haven't been thought out well enought to be on the market.

What is the lowest price out there on the 3" skyjackers coil overs and where? The cheapest I found was $611.00. Your input is greatly appreciated.
