Warranty

According to the OM (yes i finally did read it) the diesel 5/100000 warranty applies to the original owner as well as 2nd owner. Am i reading this correctly? Has anyone had any problems with warranty work on a used truck?
BTW my 04 2wd cc lb has 53000 miles. It has the ever popular bell housing oil leak and i was considering taking it to a dealer for a fix. 1)any recommendations for good techs in the north houston area? my current flash according to the green sticker is o4e17 (something like that). i am getting 16-17 hand calculated mileage around town and 12 when towing a 26' travel trailer. dont want to lose that. also the egr has been disconnected...it came from the dealer like that. 2)suggestions on whether to flash or not would be appreciated.
other than the leak i love this truck.

thanks in advance

Arrow Bummer . . .

Be patient & don't get , . You might try the Super Duty forum as well for greater access to your post too.

I'm on the West side and use Mac Haik @ I-10 & Beltway 8 but haven't had any real issues with my truck, only 15,450 miles after 1 yr.

Welcome to FTE and the 6.0 forum flyinnuts

When you get a chance you might want to cruise over to our Tech Folder for some great 6.0 info.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303583

Please take a few moments to read our site guidelines as well.

Contrary to what some believe, we do not have people standing by 24 / 7 to answer questions. While we have very knowledgeable owners and 6.0 techs on this site, they have lives and make themselves available as their time allows.

Sarcastic comments typically do not motivate anyone to provide free information and / or assistance.

I hope you enjoy your time here at FTE and good luck with your truck.

What a whiner.... comments like yours (post #2) will not make anyone WANT to help you any faster!!!!

First off... you said you bought from a dealer... so was it a Ford dealer or somewhere else? Take to Ford dealer under warrenty... obviously, you know where the EGR valve is and figured out it was disconnected. Plug it in and see what you think or feel is the difference??

Second, if the EGR valve is not connected, that is not the "factory way" so you may want to have the dealer reconnect and test.... whether you want to hook back up or not, that is your decision.

As far as the owner's manual goes... have never heard that it applied to the first and second owner.... but maybe it does... but I would just play dumb and take it in if you have concerns.

All dealers have their good and bad days as do deisel techs... ask your friends that have diesel trucks or call a few dealerships and ask how many diesel techs they have and their years of service? I am sure this would be more beneficial than asking an "open question" here at FTE? Warrenty work on a 6.0L truck MUST be done by the diesel tech and no one else (per Ford's guidelines).

The bell housing leak may not be oil, but assembly lube. They can add UV dye to the oil and after 500 miles retest with a UV light to see if it is the rear-main seal or not. As far as reflashing, I had it done on my 2003 and love it. They key is that after a reflash, the truck must idle for 5 minutes so the computer relearns the "EGR closed" position. Some will say to start, idle for 5 minutes, shut off and repeat.
