no start again, SPOUT code
Hello again my fellow Fordians! I come again, with hopes of being blessed with
knowledge I don't have. I have an 89 Ranger 4x4 2.9l auto that will not start
again. I say again because I had to replace my TFI module. The truck was
driven in the morning for 10 minutes, after sitting 30 minutes, wouldn't start.
I was getting fuel, but no spark at the plugs. I pulled the module, tested it, and
it was bad (using the old SunPro module tester like PepBoys and Zone use in
their stores). It started immediately after installing and I verified no codes were
present. It was driven 2 days afterwards and it died again. Once again, I'm
getting fuel but no spark. Before pulling the upper intake again for the module, I
checked for codes and got a code 18, which of course, has to do with the
SPOUT signal or tach reference. What I need now is, where do I go from here?
As always, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a EVTM and voltmeter,
but am unsure where to start? Thanks. Rob
