Question Lab puppies $?

My yellow lab is going to have a litter of pups, and I was wondering what some of you guys have paid, or sold some for.
On her last litter, I sold them for around $250 each.
Both parents have champion blood lines and are UKC and AKC registered as well as the litter will.
Somthing to add, they'll be ready to sell right before christmas time.
Any ideas?

Depends on who wants them. I usauly get $125. But if you have huge kennel sign out front you can get more. This is a classic case of politics.

depends on your region I guess. My roommates lab had puppies last fall. She's AKC registered as well as the sire, both are from championship blood lines in field and trial. The dame had her eyes tested but was still to young to have hip tests done, but the sire had both tests. Anyway, he was selling the males for $450 and the females for $550 and people didn't even blink an eye at that. He had them all "sold" pretty much as soon as they were born. He doesn't do that as a business and doesn't have a "huge kennel sign", just wanted to breed his "baby". BTW, he would have asked more if all of her hip tests had been done.

Anyway, dogs are a kind of "you get what you pay for thing". The price you can get or will pay depends largely on blood lines, championship history, etc. A dog from a good bloodline with no inbreeding and show qualities is going to be worth more than one that can't show those traits.

Anything under $400 is a bargain for a Lab that comes from good blood lines. I have seen them go up in price depending on the color of thier coat as well. I got my Lab from a friend of mine in Montana. He was selling the pups for $300, and that was 5 years ago.

Back in the 80s, I sold Lab pups. Going price was something like $250 for the males and $300 for the females. That was quite a while ago and I know they are more now.

I would say $250 female, $200 male, or roughly the same, the chocolates like my Allie seem to bring top dollar around here. I know its not hard to sell a good bred lab for $$$$ but honestly some people may flame me but if you sell a dog for over $300 I think you are a crook unless its got some training under its belt. I know a whole lot of awesome people who would love to have a nice papered puppy and would treat it like their kid, but if you fork out all the money on the dog upfront then where's the money to shower it with gifts, vet visits, etc. The UKC on top of AKC will also help move them alot quicker b/c they do go like flapjacks. When I went to get my little girl I had to go at 4:00AM just to beat everyone else coming that day to look at them.

i would check the local ads to see what they go for in your area.

250$ seems very reasonable.

i think here they go for 400-500 but then they've usually had their shots and whatever else so they're all ready to go.

In my area, not to many people have the money, or care to have a dog with papers, so it sucks, but in the larger towns around me it's different(that's where I sold most of my last litter).

These dogs will be sold around 6-7 weeks after getting they're shots and everything. So I'm hoping to get something good.

What would you guys say the best way of advertisement would be?

I know they seem to sell up pretty quick in the bargain mart classifieds we have, local and nearby newspapers are usually cheap to advertise. Do you have a trading post on the local radio? Of course also put up flyers at local pet stores and similar places.

i'd start advertiing right away on as many free sites as i can find with a picture of one of the parents
http://www.google.com/search?q=louis...netscape:en-US

when the puppies are ready to go you can group email all the people that have responded to your ads with a message that the puppies are ready and add some cute pictures or whatever.

any big local paper that you have to pay to advertise decide if you think its worth the money. i'd run an ad on the weekend that the dogs are ready. here they have a weekend special to run an ad friday, saturday and sunday. saturday people are home. they'll pick up the big paper. tha's when you want to go out and buy fun stuff.
