CEL on, P0442 code showing up

CEL on, P0442 code showing up
went to autozone to have the code read... they gave me 4 things that could possibly be wrong. #1 was a faulty gas cap, or its not on tight... CEL had been on for 4 straight days, today i tightened gas cap and after a little more driving, CEL goes out. is it the cause or are 1 of the others possible?

P0442 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small). See this a lot when owners gas up. They don't get the cap on tight, o'ring in cap is bad, dirt around the cap seal area are some common causes. Sometimes overfilling the tank can cause this code.

A small evap leak is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find without an evap-approved smoke detector. I would buy a new cap (cheap fix if that's the problem) then have the code cleared. If it comes back you're going to have to take it in somewhere that has a smoke machine.
