hey guys ive been lookin into doin a 4 inch exhaust, now i find out here in phx my truck is required to have a cat to pass emissions.is there a way around this?if not is it worth still spending the money on a system being that i have to have a cat?besides sounding different any performance?
you cant exactly get farm plates anywhere you want. to get farm plates here, you have to show all kinds of proof on paper that you truly use your truck for farm duties! although, that'd be nice!
I live in Utah so take this for what it's worth. I went to a muffler shop here and asked about a 4" exhaust and we got to talking, and he told me that if it say's under the hood of your ride that it came from the factory with a cat it has to have one installed. If it don't say that under the hood you don't. So my suggestion is go look at the labels under the hood and see. Then call a couple of muffler shops. Good luck.

Wonder what happens if you remove the label?
Maybe it's like the "Do Not Remove" label on mattresses & furniture ect,

My 97 has a Cat sticker (for today any way, razorblade, GooBeGone, towel and elbow grease). but it went on to say something about it being leagle to sell in California. It is stuck on the hood in the center.
HOOOOGA!
I'm sure you could get away with that kind of thing with some people but I bet anyone with half a brain who did that stuff everyday would know that after "19xx" all road-going diesels had cats.
I'm in SaltLake and got into a shouting match with the safety people over mudflaps. The truck does look pretty tall and with some fresh MTs on it but they are 32" (Exactly original rolling-stock spec) and it's stock F350 4x4 height. Expect headaches.
