Need more torque:

Hello, i have a F150 4x4 5spd with the 4.6L. I have a throttle body spacer, K&N, magnaflow exhaust, new plugs and wires from ford racing. Even after all these i feel like having a bigger motor will satisfy my need rather than bolting on parts to my 4.6l. Will a 5.4 from a 1997 to 2003 or even a 2004- 2006 fit .

A super charger would be cheaper, easier, and less stressful on your tranny and rearend.

Yeah or even a tuner like edge or something i think they increase the torque im pretty sure they do increase horsepower i know they really wake the truck up i agree there are way more cheaper and easier alternatives than an engine swap to a 5.4l..

4.6L to 5.4L, with a 5spd

This is an old topic, but has anyone put a 5.4 onto the 5spd from a 4.6L. I have a 4.6L that has bad head gaskets and 179k on it. By the time I rebuild that one ($$) I could swap in a 5.4L with 100k for maybe the same $ and less stress. I'm doing the work myself, and I'm more confident/experienced with swapping motors than rebuilding one. Just want to know that the conversion can be done. I have read most of the 4.6L to 5,4L conversion threads, but all have been autos.

Truck is a 1997 extended cab 4x4 4.6L 5spd
