I know a few people using the fluid damper. Injector imbalance looks to be improved.

Have seen them advertised in Diesel Power Magazine, but that is about it.

May make sense if doing a rebuild or one has the front end of the motor apart for reason. Maybe if one is really modding their truck and needs better vibration protection... but other than that... I think most are happy with the stock system???

Just my .10 worth.

Jeff

Definitely worth the money--a noticable difference in the way your motor runs. You would definitely be amazed!!!

Enlighten me as I am not up to speed on what benefits it will give me?

What does it do?

How easy or hard to install?

Will my truck run smoother, quieter or both???

I have seen them, but now sure how they are built or designed as to achieve their desired benfit?

Thanks,

Not sure I can explain the technical aspect of how it works Jeff. It uses a fluid internally I believe and balances your crankshaft. There are some claimed HP benefits from it, but I don't know about proven. It will take away harmful crankshaft harmonics and definitely make your motor run smoother. Install is difficult--maybe not for an experienced mechanic, but it does require quite a bit of disassembly on the front of the motor. A little pricy for the average Joe?? Definitely. It's a long term investment kind of thing.....or for a hotrodder.

Quotes from other users that I know:

"Update i installed the fluidampr today. took desable readings and graphed my rpm & eng load. reading #1 in front of engine-#2 on the floor right under the front bumper. #3 in the cab. #1=87dbs #2=89dbs #3=72dbs. engine ideling & at normal temp. installed dampr & front seal after the install readings were #1=87dbs #2=88dbs #=70dbs. didnt see mutch differance the graphs i took were about the same. my scope has a buffer and i didnt turn it off, like a dum *** or i would have seen something thier. i weighed the dampers stock=14lbs fluidamper=21lbs. it took me 2 1/2 hours to install,BUT i had to install a new front crankshaft seal. got under the truck to loosen the shroud bolts and seen a small oil leak! lucky me i had to take the dampr off anyway i was about to get pissed no parts on a sunday, i run to the parts room and whooooo, i did have a front seal . anyway to the guys that have a automatic, get a 15mm socket & 1 1/2 inch exstention. pullout the rubber plug on the bellhousing, turn the motor over untill you can get the socket on a converter nut. turn motor over untill the socket & ext are against the bellhousing. this will hold the motor from turning when you torque the bolts. so i go for a test drive motor was way smooth, maybe it was me but everything just seemed smoother. jshall said somthing about his shifts and man was he right! got on the freeway and i was amazed at how mutch better it shifted. this dampr has got to help a tranny live longer. on a scale of 1-10 ill give it a 8+. i took alot of pics but am having troubles posting them i will try to put them in the members pics so look thier."

Another:

"We did a dyno comparison last fall and found the 6.0L picked up 15hp & 40 ft.lbs. The truck made an average 366.3 hp & 569.5 ft.lbs., after doing the Fluidampr install the truck improved to 380.8 hp & 609.0 ft.lbs. These numbers were averaged over 3 runs. You can view this information at the link below:"

http://www.fluidampr.com/downloads/diesel_fluidampr.pdf

Hope that helps out. I have one on order for mine!

Jeff--do you want me to have Matt give a disertation on it? I'm sure he could explain it better since he has more practical experience with it. I know it made his hotrod truck run as smooth as silk.

Simple. Fluids when rotated will balance themselves out and absorb the vibrations much better than the solid rubber stock ones.

That help?
