Cab vents leaking?
Cab vents leaking?
2001 F250 crew 4X4 V10; Finally got a good rain storm after months of beautiful sunny weather and the rear carpets were wet? After a process of elimination the vents under the rear window appear to be leaking. The vents are made of plastic and snap in with some kind of gasket. To make matters worse the vents are installed from the outside, of course that is where the box is? What kind of design is that? I'm going to try my luck with some sealant. Anyone else experience this?
I had/have a cab leak and replaced the vents as a preventative measure to rule out that as a possible source of water entry. If you pull out that back panel in the cab, you can access the vents and push them out. It is tricky and take your time so as not to scratch the bed all up. Anyhow, new ones at the dealer were 25 bucks a piece and are a tight fit to install, but you can get them in w/o removing the bed. Have one guy in the cab to catch the vent and one guy outside to slide the vent down to the hole. They just pop right into place. The seals on mine were really smashed and Im glad I replaced them. Good luck.
