I am a new member and thought I would introduce myself. I am currently working on two trucks, a 1962 Econoline pickup and a 1962 F250. The Econoline is a daily driver and the F250 just received a 390 with c6 trans and is finally back on the road. Got to be nuts working on 2 at a time, just ask my wife. My son and I do all are own work, generally in the drive way. Nothing real fancy around here.
One question. Anybody Know of an after market gizmo that will help calibrate the c6? Speedometer is running 25 mph fast. I know we will have to hit the junk yards for another tail shaft but hope springs eternal. Isn't the internet a great place? Great to meet everyone. Keep on truckin! jimarlie.
THe speedometer driven gear on the end of the speedometer cable is what you need to change. When you pull your speedo cable, count the number of teeth on the gear, then take that gear, and your count and go to the ford dealer. They should be able to help you calculate what gear you need. This will re-cal your speedo.
I have to do the same thing with my 65, the speedo is reading 5 miles an hour slower than what the truck is really running.

Thanks much for the advice. It worked. I have been working on old trucks for 20 plus years and I didn't even think to call the Ford Dealer. Over thinking the problem again, I guess. I'll try to remember to try the obvious first. Again, thanks. jimarlie
