phillip quinn,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.

I run ATS, so I am biased in that direction.

i run a banks system on mine, and have no complaints, but to have one installed on your truck will run around $4500, but hypermax sells a kit to, heres the link http://www.gohypermax.com/Catalog.as...9-af9579f7dc8e

I hate to come in this thread and ravage a bit but I encountered a small problem once I put my Banks turbo up for sale on this site that you should be aware of. Everyone believes that the $1600 Hypermax system is complete as the Banks System. I have done alot of research about turbo systems for the 7.3/6.9 IDIs and If you read carfully and research it (as I have), the Hypermax DOES NOT include guages or a complete exhaust system. Those are, well vital parts but are sold seperately. By the time you finish getting all the necessary parts, it costs about the same as a Banks system. I was challenged by another user on this site who tried to say it was wrong of me to consider selling my Banks for $1400 or best offer (I just based the $1400 off of previous offers I recieved). The user claimed that you could only get 5-6 psi out of the Banks system and that it wasn't worth the money. If I remember correctly, TJC transport is running about 10-12 psi on his Banks system. I was also hit with the price difference in the non-wastegated turbos... If I recall, when they came out they were in the $3000 range. Now, I wanted to make a good honest sale on this turbo so I spent hours going through that turbo and oiling system myself. I cleaned, replaced old parts and lubricated everything. I also purchased new manual trans piping from another user on this forum for about $200 and I also spent another $300 for the Auto trans piping/manifold. Once I was finished, I paid to have it inspected by a local diesel shop to make sure I did it right. After all that, I believe it is not greedy of me to ask a decent price. I do realize that it depreciates but the system is like new after all the work put into it. By now I doubt I will ever get it sold but I refuse to sell something this mechanically sound for peanuts.

I apologize for my rampage on this thread but I felt I needed to get the word out there...Thanks for reading.

-Dave

I wasn't bashing you at all DNewton, there was a different user who came up with that bash on my ad. If you want to read it, go to https://www.ford-trucks.com/classifi...&cat=11&page=1

As you can see from the comments I added, all my information is well supported

They do sell an exhaust system from hypermax, I believe it is on the first 7.3/6.9 page for about $225. I don't know if theirs is like Banks with predrilled locations or what. They do have duo pyrometer and boost guage but they are about $250.

with muffler the banks non wastegated unit like dave has will put out about 7 psi boost. without muffler open exhaust, the same unit will put out 12-14 psi boost at full throttle, depending on exhaust pipe size.

Another vote for the ATS wastgated kit. They all have options that may or may not be needed (like auto dipstick). Most have the exhaust sold separately in case you want to fab your own big pipes.

yes, it uses sort of a y pipe. stock manifolds, to a y type pipe setup that goes from both manifolds to the turbo, then the downpipe out of the turbo.

Seanvicious,
Yes the turbo is still for sale. She is still sitting in my garage wrapped with towels to keep the elements out.
