Dave, come on, don't be so touchy. I wasn't bashing you or your sale. I merely wanted to point out that this is by no means a $3000 kit, so don't act like it is. The performance of the new, wastegated $3000 Banks and an old style, used-but-in-good shape non wastegated Banks will not be the same. I base my opinion of this turbo on my experience driving a truck that had a rebuilt Banks like yours with a rebuilt engine. In my experience it performed exactly like a nonwastegated ATS, which is also no longer available, but which I have owned 2 of. After all the adjusments I made trying to get max boost out of these, short of losing the muffler, I have never seen more than 6 psi.
Point being, it looks like you have a nice setup for sale, but remember it is USED, and if you want to open a bidding war to get the premium $$$ you think its worth, put it on freaking Ebay. I don't care how you conduct your business, just be fair as its not the new unit. I think $1400 is plenty fair and will make somebody much happier with their rig.
Ok guys let's get back to Philips question "which turbo" and can anyone explain Hypermax-non waste system, they claim [of course] there system is better [quicker responce]??
the hypermax unit is a turbo only from what i can gather. you have to buy all the rest of the parts to finish the system seperatly, and when you get done, it is actually the same price or a little more than a banks unit.

.
my banks non wastegated turbo with mufflers in the pipes and the injector pump turned down puts out 7 lbs of boost. without mufflers and the pump turned up, i see 12-14 lbs on a regular basis.
if your unit only put out a max of 6 lbs, something was wrong with it.
and for the record, i would not put a wastegated unit on my truck even if it was given to me. all 6 of my diesel trucks had banks non wastegated units except for the last one, and that wastegated turd was traded in with less than 50k miles on it.
tjc, please explain to us-why you wouldn't put a wastegated turbo "turd" in your unit? And aren't all new ATS and Banks wastegated? Please remember a lot of us do not have a turbo on our IDIs so this all new to us.
what i was saying is that the truck i had with a wastegate on it was a turd. only made 4 lbs of boost no matter what you did, and just would not pull like the others. no one could figure out what was wrong with it.
so i traded it in on a grand marquis for my parents.
it could have just been a bad turbo, i don't know. but i tend to find something that works for me, and stick with it. and the non wastegated units rate pretty high in my book.

The cool part of the wastegated turbo is that they work fair right outta the box. You could run one without gauges really. Then, after you get the urge, you can gauge it, jack up the boost, and give it some more fuel and have fun all over again.
Is there going to be a difference between a wastegated and a non wastegated as far as boost goes (both tubos being the same physically other than the wastegate or lack of)?
Im was looking at a banks kit, but after reading your comments i think im going to go with Hypermax. I checked out the web site and i kinda like that kit. It looks simple and fun to install unlike the banks kit, Kinda scary to look at all the little parts. Whats the ATS site?? I wanna look into those turbos. Thanks

Ummm, I think the Hypermax doesn't look so scary because (as was stated in earlier posts in this thread) it doesn't come with many of the "little parts" that you need to have to install it and make it work. The Banks kit looks scary because it does come with all the "little parts" you need.
Now which is really scarier - getting a kit with lots of little parts included in it, or getting a kit without all the little parts, and then having to figure out exactly what little parts you need, figuring out where to find them, and then having to buy all of them separately - because they weren't included in the kit?
I know which one sounds scarier to me - but you have to be the judge of that one for yourself....
The ATS is by far the easiest to install, still takes a full day though. The Hypermax does come with all the little parts, it's just hose clamps instead of O-rings. The 'Pulse' design is good for 10-11 lbs of instant boost when you stuff it to the floor, but the ATS gives more off idle power.
I'll admit not having much Banks experience, I only put one of their van kits on a couple years ago. It came back a week later with a broken exhaust pipe flange.
