getting 1st bronco

hellow everyone im new to this site and have been doing some searching on lift kits. A friend of mine is selling his 89 bronco to me for 1500.00 he rebuilt the front put new 33s on it and a new dis. to name a few things its sitting stock right now and i was thinking about putting a tuff country 4 in lift and i am wanting to know what extra things will i need when im doing this like brake lines etc. havnt lifted one before but wrenching is second nature to me and it doesnt seem that complikated to me just want to find out how much ill spend on the little things that go with lifting a bronco. this bronco will see some off roading with the family but mostly street use. what can i exspect of this bronco offroad with this lift and how much will ride quality suffer

Welcome to the site.
The Bronco sounds like a good deal.
The thing with lifting a TTB front suspension truck is being able to adjust it after, so it is possible to aligned it after.
The tuff country lift kit has just that. With a 4" lift you'd want new brake lines, and several other things.
I lifted my 79 Bronco 6"s and it cost me $760 with shocks(skyjacker nitros).
I'd recommend either skyjacker nitros or rancho rs5000s and not the tuff country shocks they offer you with the kit, save that $150 and spend a extra $10 and get some real shocks.

If he just put them on for a 6" lift, and you put back a 6" lift, you should be able to use them no problem.

loud_mouth22,

hehehe, you're gonna fit right in if the name is any indication. Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. MBBFord has started you in the right direction. Couldn't agree more with the idea of doing a Tuff Country suspesnion lift. Best of luck with the truck.

Well grey, as you know, the 80+ Broncos aren't exactally by area of experiance, so I learn from you guys, and found out tuff country has the adjustments to set the TTB back right after the lift from you.

I spent 760 on my lift, with shocks, and since you have the shocks, that will be a easy $150 off. You might have to spend alittle more if you want the rear springs, but if you do a shackle flip and maybe a add a leaf in the rear, then you'd save a couple hundred dollars, and have just as good of a lift.

As for the seat, you could bring it to a reupolstry shop or somthing like that, or you would go to a junkyard, and look for a Bronco or explorer for some nice seats and just use those.

As to the seat question, I recently discovered THIS https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...locations.html about the Bronco so it may be of some help to your situation when considering replacement or swap.

pro comp's shocks aren't anything special, but work fine(just as good as superlift or skyjacker hydros).
For articulation, coil springs are a good thing, and it will do just about all you want, but leaf springs aren't the best for flex, but work fine for me.
