Does anybody know why they moved the intake from the drivers side fender from the early 99s to over the batter after that? Mine is an early 99. Just wondered.
Well my understanding of the 6637 is that it just goes in place of the airbox. I also got the early 99 and im going to be ripping out my stock airbox to put the 6637 in as well.
Where did you get the elbow? I have an early '99 as well and I had to use a 22.5* PVC from home depot in the same place you have yours. No exhaust shop around me can bend 4" tubing.
I got the elbow at a big rig supply shop in San Jose on Old Bayshore Rd just east of 10th street. You wanna find a shop that is specifically for big rig parts. I had to cut it a couple of times to get the length just right. I also reversed the hose that goes from the filter to the CCV piece. The main thing is to make sure it doesn't rub on your intercooler pipe on that side. The pipe is very soft aluminum and will wear through if you give it enough time. If you look closely enough, you can see how I have the filter "shoe" horned in there. Yeah, that's an old shoe in there... The flat bottom of an old shoe combined with the moldability of the top makes for a great seat for hte filter. Also I put an empty 1 Qt oil bottle in between it and the fender area... LOW BUCK MOD! Buy your filters 2 or 3 at a time from Fleetfilter and you'll save big bucks on the filter elements. If you buy three it comes out to about $75 including the shipping.
