I finally had enough spare bucks that I was going to buy that 77 4x4 I've been eyeing up for a year. I phoned the guy and he sold it 2 weeks ago!! GRRRR. Now I'm POed at myself for dragging my heels. I did get another 79 though, 2 wheel drive... I still really want a 4x4.
Yeah sucks you cant wait around like that especially if its a good deal but enjoy your new 79 2wd (hopefully you dont go through as many trannies as your other one just kiddin)
That's funny Dustin, NOT!! Actually truth be told the powertrain in this 79 is shot, but I just so happen to have a 78 Cougar with a strong powertrain in it. Should be a fairly straight forward swap.
I went to see the 79 this afternoon. It turns out to be an F-100 instead of an F-150 and it has a 302 instead of a 351M, like the guy said. Guess it will be a little more work putting the 351M and tranny from the Cougar in than I thought. I think the motor mounts are different? Oh well for an 18 pack of GW Light who am I to complain.
The engine mount towers are the same for the 302/351 and 351M/400 engines. You will have to get 351M/400 truck engine mounts as the car ones won't work. I put a 302/AOD in my '78 F-250 frame, it originally had a 400/C-6. It was a bolt in affair with the correct engine mounts.
Well good luck with the engine swap shouldnt be too hard ooo F100 even a better deal for a case of beer there pretty rare especially in those years at least i think so cause i see more F150's in those years
Yah, I want a 76 or 77 (my favorite grille) I was really looking for a 300 6 with a 4 speed, but I might bite. What kind of work does it need, mechanical, body or both? Got any pics of it? PM me a price and anymore info you might have.
