I have an 04 FX4 Supercab...so far I'm very satisfied with the truck. Besides a rear window rattle/leak, no problems....runs great, is really good off road, love to get it muddied up........lol.
Brother in law is impressed also, and is looking at the 06 Lariat....think it's just as rugged off road? I know it doesn't have the skid plates/tougher shocks, but tire size/engine/3.73 gears all are the same.
I liked the look of the FX4, test drove both, I couldn't tell the difference in the ride of either, I'm just not keen on the leather interior.
[QUOTE=CAFordDude]Can he get a Lariat FX4? I have an 06 F350 Lariat FX4 and love it.QUOTE]
In the f250/350 the fx4 is not a trim level it is a package (skid plates, shocks, and the sticker)
On the f150 the Fx4 is a trim package that has options of the trim level inside the cab, captian leather seats, moon roof, matching painted bumper, fog lamps, 18" tires along with the skid plates, shocks, ESOF, LS axle, And the sticker.

I'm not really sure if the shocks on the FX4 are any different than the shocks on the Lariat. As far as the skid plates go they are pretty darn flimsy and may only serve to collect mud in places where you don't want it. If you are really going off-roading you need much more substantial aftermarket skid plates, with a little more thought on their design.
On the older series FX4's the shocks came from Rancho and were therefore visually identifiable. The new series shocks are visually the same, and whether the construction and performance are any different from model to model is pretty hard to determine. For advertising purposes it would make sense to call the same shocks Heavy Duty on an FX4 and simply not mention it for the Lariat (which supposedly caters to a softer ride clientele).
I would take my Lariat anywhere that I would go with an FX4 package.
As far as toughness goes I still think that my 02 7700 series was a tougher truck than either of my newer ones. Overall though the newer trucks are much nicer to drive.

I have the FX4 and the best part about it is that it have limited slip thats kinda why I bought it so I had limited slip. Im sure you can get a Lariat with limited slip as an option though

Thanks Josh. I knew my wife was wrong. I am NOT to dumb to learn new things. I didn't know that and now I do. Weird how they can't just have a standard way of doing things so us slower folks can have a fighting chance at keeping up...

Seems to me that the LS is part of the Lariat package. Don't think you can get a Lariat any other way.
