Okay this time I was wondering if a Zf5 transmission would fit under a 65' F100. I am greatly considering putting a Zf5 + a gear vender unit behind my 460 but I'm not sure if it will fit. Anyone put a Zf5 under one of these ol' gals?
It's unrelated but what is the reduction in a ford 8inch? acording to one thing I found on the net about interping the tag means I have a 3.25 rear end. Does this sound reasonable?
I'm not familiar with that particular trans but I've seen a clark 5spd with an auxilary 3spd and a PTO in a 65 tow truck I'm pretty sure it will not take up any more room then that one did. 3.25 gears sounds reasonable but 8" diff is not what you want behind a 460. A good choice would be a 3.50 or 3.70,9" with the gearvendor OD
Well the rear end is going to be changed out to something with an 8 lug pattern. Its going to have to hold some wieght when I change the whole truck into a one ton.
There wasnt any difference in the bodies becuse of the transmission type was there?
In the 61-63s the floor hump was different with the colum shifted 3spd and the floor shifted 4spd. Not sure if it carried over to 64-66. The 4spd had a taller removable floor pan the three spd was flatter and not removable.
