I ran the harness for my block heater last night (2006 250 6.0). This was not fun. It would of been quicker and easier to pull the engine! My arms and fingers should be recovered in two weeks!
Why, Why, can't Ford just put this in as standard for us! Sorry guys... just had to vent... still in love with my PSD.
Depends on where you live I guess... everything in Canada is sold equipped with block heaters and cords. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, it's September...
If my truck came with a block heater, tha tmeans there isn't a cord attached to it?
WTF is going on here. i don't get it. if they charge the simple 35 bucks for a block heater, why is there no cord attached to it. i looked for mine tonight briefly and didnt' locate it.
someone want to fill me in. the spec sheet says block heater. i'm going to go back to the dealer and bitch them out if there isn't a cord on there. 43k for a truck with a useless cord when it's easier to put it on when they are building the truck???
this just takes the cake.
another reason why i hate all manufacturers and their evil ways to rob more money from us.
i think mine has it, just have to look behind the bumper on the passenger side, i looked at my sticker and it says engine block heater 35 bucks. i guess that's the cord. even though it doesn't say that
On our 04 it took 2 tecks 15 minutes to find the cord end. It was zip tied behind the right tow hook and is very short. And they knew about where to look.

The ford cord must be weird. I bought the IH cord, and it is just like an extension cord with the proper ends. Route however you want using commen sense. I think I was under the pickup for 2.46 minutes.
UGA33 not all pickups come with them. I bought mine in MN, but it was originally at a dealer in MO. No cord for me. What I was refering to, I beleive the ford cord is "rigid" in places and requires special routing. The IH cord is just a cord. You route it how you want. It also only cost 18 bucks.
the funny thing is, the cord on my 97 isn't really a thick wire, but for 1000 or so watts, you'd think these cords would be thicker and better insulation on them
i'm going to locate mine this morning, while it's warming up.
The Ford cord comes wrapped in wire looms, hard plastic sleves, and has all the push pins taped to it where it is mounted to the frame holes drilled to hold it.
I'm thinking it is the same cord underneath it all.
Would anyone happen to know the Ford part number for the heater block cord? I ordered one from my dealer over the phone and sent my girlfriend to pick it up. When I got home, it appears they gave her something marked "Wiring Asy" about 8 inches long with a regular outlet plug on one end and a plug that looks like a USB port with 3 holes in the in the end. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
I am not sure what part that is but it is not the harness you want. Mine was about 6 feet long and well wrapped and had push pins in various places to secure the wire... all in places where my six year old could not get her hand into.
I got my harness on e-bay and paid the "buy it now" price which was probably $30 higher than if I spent some time and looked around... but a got the ford harness which was a for sure fit. So you can do a search on e-bay and find a bunch of venders that will sell you one and you can see the photos so you know your getting the correct part.
If I had to do it agian... I would get the straight cord from the IH parts dealer like some of the others on this forum... and just run it to the front of the truck with some zip ties keeping it away from moving parts or hot parts! Actually... I would run it to the back of my truck because of my garage outlet position.
