U will have to do a search on the forums, I am on the road and don't have it handy. There are plenty of discussions on it. The IH cord is $18.00 they say and the dealer one is around $100.The dealer should be able to find it, as Engine block heater cord.
Just my $.02 worth--on my 04 the heater cord was behind the bumper, above the tow hook, zip tied and had the cover over the plug prongs, to find it I had to lay down, look up and use a flashlight, then it still kind of blended in with other stuff. After finding out some don't come with the block heater, I feel kinda lucky. I bought the truck here in VA, but my dealer did a search and found the truck I wanted in Terra Haute (spelled right???), Indiana, and went and got it. I guess it is colder there than here, and the trucks sent to the dealers there have the heaters?
All truck's since '05 were made w/ the engine blk heater in the motor. If the dealer didn't order the eng blk heater option ($35) then they didn't include the cord/wire to plug it in.
If you buy the cord/plug from FORD then they want $100 plus you put it in & it's a really PITA! IH sells them for $18 or so.
Thanks for all the help. The truck was purchased off the lot in eastern Kentucky and while it has the heater element in the block, it did not come with the cord. Having seen several posts on the board about getting the cord from the local International dealer, I stopped at one coming back from court this morning. It was like I was asking for a pound of uranium. Something about the 6.0L still being captive by Ford. In any event, I returned to the dealer and expained their mistake and will have the cord tomorrow morning at a discount. This is my first full size truck, first Ford and first diesel so I can say without hesitation that this site has been very informative. I've only had the truck 20 days and 1,000 miles but really like it so far. It is dressed in the Lariat Outlaw trim package and really needs no aftermarket "eye candy." Thanks again for your help as I will probably be calling upon your expert opinions in the future.
