Ignition Switch

I have 1972 f-100 with a lost key. I also have a 1968 F-100 ignition switch. However the connector is different from one to the other.. The LMC Catolog has the switch in three different parts. I can't seem to fine a way to dismantel [sic] either switch. I have a key to the '68 but I need to switch the electrical connection part from the '72 to the '68 alowing me to use the '68 on the '72. Anybody no the secret to do this? Bob

Not interchangable. I would suggest you go to Advance or Schucks and get a replacement switch assembly, they're under $30.

Check the locks on the door pass side first. Sometimes ford had the key code number on the cylinder. A good Ford dealership can cut a new key from the code. Worked for me several times.

That brings up a good point I forgot to mention- If you take the 72 ignition switch to a locksmith who does lockouts, they can cut you a new key for that switch. I should have remembered this, I had it done for my 69 when I bought it from auction. IIRC, it cost $25.
