hard cold starting

hard cold starting

My 03 f150 4.6L has started hard since it was new, at temps -15 and below which are common here from December on. It turns over fine but cranks forever before starting. After starting, it runs fine. If anyone has anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.

Does it have an engine block heater?
If so, plug it in over night as it will heat the engine block and oil pan.

cold start

My truck doesn't have an engine heater but I have considered putting one on. I was a mechanic for 13 yrs and this trouble has me baffled. It starts fine until temps reach about neg 12 degrees, then it will just crank and crank. I've tried just turning on the key to run the fuel pump etc. but it takes forever to start.Maybe someone is trying to tell me it's time for a heated garage?
