The vacuum canister is an oval shaped black thing behind the battery on the passenger side. Just after the canister(going from the front of the truck)is the electric vacuum pump.
If you pull a vaccum hose off a connector you will have a vacuum leak in the system. So if you go and turn the key to have the wait to start light come on, you should here the vacuum pump running. Find where the noise and you will find the pump.
This is some far out stuff,
When I bought my truck, it had a BD exhaust brake on it, so there is a pump just behind the vacumm canister that has a BD sticker on it, so I kinda figured that was to charge the brake. . . so are you telling me that I need to reconnect that and hook up the vacumm lines again? The vacumm line connects into the top of the canister, it looks aftermarket. So wierd.

Hey guys,
I feel kinda dumb here, too much time working on my ol 5.slow. I just kinda figured that it got vacumm from the intake tube before the turbo. . . but I plugged the vacumm line back in from the pump, and plugged in power, and boy, it started right up. I looked at my buddies 6.0 last night, it has basically the same vacumm setup. . . it had the same canister, and just behind it, a very small pump that plugged in at the end of the canister. on mine. . . that very plug at the end of the canister is plugged and not connected into anything, for this new larger pump from BD, that ran a 1/4 inch line to the top of the canister for more sucking volume I guess. I guess the stock pump and small lines wouldn't be enough to feed the 3.0 inch bore air cylinder for the brake Well thanks alot
