exhaust vibration

exhaust vibration

I have a 4" magnaflow exhaust, and it seems to have a vibrating sound at idle, for instance when you sit at a light. I cant see where it is touching anything, almost sounds like it vibrates against an exhaust shield but therei s at least 1" of clearance, any body have any ideas? it does sound like it comes from close to the fire wall not the rear of the truck.

have you checked above the rear diff. mine was hitting the diff mine wasnt at idle though, it was while just driving down the road

I found my vibration it was the bolts on the exhaust shield, it is so tight where the down pipe turns it was rubbing on the bolts which stick through from the top of the exhaust shield.

I had that same problem when i put my 5" on and i took a floor jack and a 2x4 and jacked up against the heat sheild. Probally not the safest thing to do but it did work and no more rattle.
