I have a 9 inch rear end in my 55 f-100 and have a tag that says
WEY-B 9KC
3.50 9 . 3 351 A
do any of you know what all that means?
I do know that it's a 9 inch with a 3.50 gear ratio.
my problem is I have a bent axle and don't know what year the rear end is.
Any help would be appreciated.
Figuring the year doesn't matter too much. You only need to know - length of the axle shaft, number of splines (28 or 31), and tapered roller bearing or large ball bearing. Haul it to any junk yard and they'll compare it to what they have.
According the info I found in the Ford High Performance Parts Identifier book
WEY-B is the axle model
9KC is the date code, year month week
3.50 is the ratio
9 is the ring gear size
the rest is plant code
But you probably won't need the info to replace the axle. If you take the broken axle to a shop that repairs diffs they can tell you what part you will need to replace it.
