I just got my 3+1 o/d tranny for my '64, and have a few questions. First, the tranny I have now is a T-98 bolted to a 292 Y-8. The new tranny is out of a '79 F-xxx with a 351M engine. The problem is, that the bolt holes in the tranny don't line up with the ones on my bellhousing. I was expecting that, but I was wondering if there would be any problem in torching off the studs that are on the bell now, drilling holes to line up with the tranny, and using some high-strength bolts/nuts to hold everything together? There looks to be enough meat on the bell so that I won't be drilling too close to the edges or anything, and the trannies are the same length, so no probs with the driveshaft.
Is it alright to drill my bellhousing to match the tranny? I know there was someone who built his own bell to put a T-5 behind a 292...
Will this work guys?!

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
go to http:/badgerland.ford-trucks.com and post a question for MR. He put a T-5 behind his 292 and can tell you if you can do what you want to the bellhousing. I know he had to weld tabs on the original bellhousing and drill and tap holes to line up the newer transmission. He has been a Ford mechanic all his life and loves the 61-66's.
