just gotta say, I saw the Foose-100 today in person. I could stand there all day looking at it, got to spend about 30 min with the truck, would have been longer but I had a un-interested friend with me. What a piece of work, just gorgeous. I still cant believe it....
The Foose-100 is a super truck, it`s very nice and done perfect plus it has a great story behind it being in the family for some time.
I would love to see it in person and could spend alot of time studying it.
I started watching one last night about a 57 Vette (I know its not a Ford, but Vettes are pretty cool anyway) It looked bone stock, and when they started talking about "body modifications" I had to turn it off... Guess Im not a darksider! Cant see cutting up a stocker if its in good shape, can't be all that many 57s out there.... I feel that way about our trucks as well, but so many are so rough when we find them that mods are not a huge issue...
the thing I like about Foose designs on Overhaulin, is that his body modifications are so subtle that to most non-car people they won't really notice the modifications, but to car people, they look at the car and know there is something different but the body modifications are so subtle and blend with the car or truck so well, that it takes a few moments to realize what they are.
His body modifications look so natural on the car or truck (case in point, the 53 (?) Chev truck ( i know, bad swear word) and how he incorporated headlight brows from a 57 car into the fenders) that it looks like something that came from the factory.
even some of his cars his does for customers are really subtle designs that flow really nice without being gaudy or overdesigned.
i would love to spend sometime with him during a design to see how his mind works these ideas out.
Yeah that was a nice 53 GMC and the 55 Chevy Belaire Fender (not 57 sorry to correct you but I own a 55 and I was like "Those are my fenders") he grafted in looked great. I agree with you that his mods look so natural. He is a amazing talent.
I heard him say once "All I do is take the ugly out of the car" well he is good at it.
I was at a Porsche Club meet, (I gots the connections ) and after the tour which was a few hours, the club had lunch. I happened to overhear some guy talking about how much he liked older ford trucks. I talked to him for a while, and it came to the Foose100. He said something funky had been done to the wheel base. Anyone about this?

Thats right it has been shortened but I cannot tell you how much, but its not much at all. Its not enough where a normal eye would catch it. I do chassis fab and suspension design and I didnt catch it at first....very subtle. The biggest thing I noticed was the steeper forward rake on the front fenders, the sic sic sic pie cut out of the hood, and the grill seems to stick out of the fenders a little more than my 53.
Very subtle and very trick. I could see where a person could just walk by and not give it a second look if they werent familiar with the original body design on these trucks.
The Foose F100 and the FR100 are really slick F100`s. Cher had a nice 56 (Black I believe) built for her afew years back and last I heard it was for sale. Wonder what happened to it, if it sold, what it sold for and where it went.
Any idea on what happened to it or where it is now? I suppose I could do a search on the internet when I get time unless someone comes up with the info.
huh, i didnt relize there was a diffrence in the 53 and 56 grill, aside from the the obvious grill teeth on the 53.(I think that was a trim package)
The "teeth" was known as the "deluxe model" grille. Also, the slots where the teeth sit run all the way along the grills length on 53, thats not the case in 56. And like I said, the hooded headlamps.
That last post made me feel smart. Allow me to polish my nails on my shirt. (I don't feel smart very often around here, of my 190 posts at this post, 176 of them were questions.
Two very nice gentlemen (who are members here) taped the overhaulin show for me where they did Chip's 56. They sent the tapes to me and I have watched them many times.
As far as the body changes, everything was subtle. Someone who does not know the 56 well, would never see them. I keep comparing it to mine and finding small things. Mine is pretty close to stock. The hood and the chop top (tilt really) are the most noticeable on Chip's (to me). They raised the bed too (I think). Underneath its not ford, but on top it is.
I have not seen it in person, but its a gorgeous truck.
