I have a 96' F-250 PSD SC 5spd with 186,000 mi I have been having problem whith it dieing on me when I put the clutch in to let it idle It does not do it all the time but most of the time. I can baby it the throttle to keep it going. I funs fine and I just changed oil to synthetic ( but it happened before that) new fuel filter, new CPS, New IPR, and no codes. It does not do it when you first start it up and it cold but when it warms up it it starts to dieing. I replaced the fuel pump about nine months ago and I shimed the pressure valve so it has good pressure. If it is the TPS how can I check it and where is it????how do you replace it???
Or is it something else ????????????
Egdge tuner
4" exhaust
3'' downpipe
NO converter
Mod. Air intake
shimmed FPR
8" lift
38" swampers
yep i second the ipr o-rings. the o-rings erode away and when the oil is cold it seals the gap but once warm it bypasses the o-rings and looses pressure
I disconnected the ICP and no difference. So if it is the IPR can you get the O-rings anywhere or at the dealership only??? Do the IPR go out or is it just the o-rings most of the time?? I saw a thread for the removal and service of the IPR it was helpfull does anyone know how to view that thread?? Wasn't there something about a special socket with a rod welded to it to ease in removing it?? One more thing about my problem is that it idle good when cold but when it warms up it idle really rough. Is the IPR symptoms??
Well I just finished changing the O-rings on the IPR ( after getting finacially rapped by the stealership, $40.00 for 2 little O-rings, a cheep nut and a oversized washer) But I did cure my problem of the rough Idle and dieing when clutch is depressed. it is amazing what a little O-ring will cause when bad. The ones I took out did not even look worn or damaged. Wierd!!!!!!!!! That link to IPR R&R website was much help. I had no idea what I was doing doing but it all worked out well.
