Hello Ford Dad, welcome to FTE, you found the best place on the net for fords.
i have 6" stacks, and they are just awesome. i have a crew cab long bed with a lift and soon 36" tires, so i think the 5'' stacks would not look proportional. you have a supercab short bed, and i think that the 5" would be more proportional to your truck without a lift and big tires.
Long bed here, but I've got 5" stacks. Take a look at my pics, compare them to Kris's pics. But, like Kris, I think that 5" would look better on a short bed. Compare our pics, and see what you think. Ultimately, you're the one that will need to be happy with them.
Stacks??? NO WAY.
If you want stacks go buy a big rig. Just my opinion.
I have seen where it looks ok on a pick up but really you lose that part of your bed and the cutting open the bed and all just a little too much for me.
I use my pickup for just that I put stuff in the bed.
to tell you the truth, there is NO comparison from a straight-piped 4" exhaust WITH a 6x24" megaphone tip going to 36x6" stacks. you will not believe the throatiness and deep tone of the exhaust, with endless turbine whistle. the tone at 2200-2300 rpm is great, the V8 rumble and popping.
One of my employees here at DPPI has 1999 with 5 inchers, it looks great. But secretly he wishes he had 6 inchers. If you have any questions on them we have the MBRP complete kits with 304 polished stainless stacks so you don't have to worry about chipping chrome stacks rusting.
Mark, i checked out your stacks. I like the 6" 304 SS, the price seems pretty good. I think i would like the 6" over the 5", nothing against 5". I really appreciate everyones comments... I was wondering if the system could be put on its side and made into side pipes with turnouts right in front of the back tires??? Just a thought...
Get the stacks. My buddys got a shortbox supercab with 5 inch mitres and it looks good. I think it would look good with 6 inch too. My truck is a crew cab long box with 5" turn outs and 36' and i think i need to get 6 or maybe in 7 if i can find them. Someday when funds are more availble. $1400 for tires so maybe in like a couple months ill step up to 6 or 7s. Stacks just look good. and the sound.......
