'04 Lariat temp reading inaccurate

My '04 Lariat's external temp reading always seems to be 6-8 degrees lower than the actual air temp outside. Is there something I can do to either relocate the sensor or am I stuck with an ill-calibrated temp sensor?

I'm in the same boat. It was 13 this morning and mine read 9. The sensor is located right behind the grill. I cleaned mine and it made no diff.

Remove it from the holder, use a ohmmeter to test between the two leads on the sensor. The reading should be between 8000 and 14000 ohms at 65-80 degrees F.

If its not in that range, you need a replacement at over $100.

There is nothing you can do to fix it....I tried everything from resistors to wrapping. Even had it diconnected for a while but it bugged the hell out of me.

Smile temp sensor

Wow, RobInAB! Over $100!!!!??? Guess I'll just have to take into account the inaccuracy and add a few degrees to whatever it displays.
