i currently own a 1987 eddie bauer broncoII i was wondering about a swap from automatic(blown, lot's of tranny fluid but barely crawls in 2 nd only)to a 5spd standard if possible then what types of trouble can i expect???I'm a first time owner and parts here in canada are fairly easy to find in auto recyclers.I have further plans for it but for now i just want to get a 5spd in there if possible.thx in advance for any answers. ............sewerman
Eeverything from my 88 Bronco II 2.9 litre from the engine right back. Including the transfer case, shafts, FM146 trans bolted right up to my eddie bauer 85 in place of the A4ld. Could not use A4ld the trans mount but all that was needed was to turn the Fm146 mount front to back and voila! The clutch pedal and clutch switch were a pain for my 85 because the switch itself was differant in 85 so I had to rewire a bit with the original connector from the "88 ( two red wires tucked up in the kick panel on the drivers side as well as two green wires for the cruise control. As the neutral safety swith is not used I had to rewire for the reverse lights and I just connected the neutral safety wire ends to the switch at the top of the FM146 trans so that the car will not start in gear or without the clutch pedal being depressed. Some skills with soldering required.Had to reset the timing for the manual trans and change out the speedo gear at the rear of the trans as well as the sensor for the cruise control, I used from the a4ld. thats it
