Can you swap a 352 for a 292? I just bought a '66 and it has a 352 in it. I love that engine! I would just fix the '66, but the '64 is almost restored. Tell me what you think.
How is it that all these innocent people are mislead to believe that the FE family is a direct replacement for the Y-blocks?! Nothing could be further from the truth. These engines don't even use the same *cotton-pickin* engine mounts!! Please come see me in the Y-block forum with any disagreements. <Soapbox crumbles>

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
I've been down this route before. A 352 (or any FE) will not bolt up to a T-98 (64 and earlier 4spd tranny). To get around this, I bought a 352 with a t-? (the 4spd successor to the T-98) and tried to install the whole thing. I actually had it in place but I needed to work out some new motor mounts to fit the side rails. This new setup also required a tranny support that also didn't want to fit right. The Y-block mounts are in front and off the bell housing. I also didn't care for the drive shaft angle to the transfer case (divorced TC). Nothing seemed to fit right so I eventually got tired of the whole setup and decided to keep the 292 and T-98 and am currently looking for a 312 which will bolt right up to what I have.
The 352 is a great engine but is it worth all the mods? Its up to you. The 312 isn't a bad engine. It has a longer stroke and larger bore than the 292. It also came with some decent heads in the mid 50s.
Good luck
