63 vs 64 f100

So I'm new here as you may can tell. Currently I own a 63 f100 with a 292 Y block. I'm currently trying to get it back on the road and I need some advice. I have a chance to buy another 64 f100 with a 352 FE, supposably has a "three in the floor,". Is the 352 motor any better than the 292? I'm not looking for huge performance I'm just trying to find something easier to swap an automatic or a floor shifted manual in ,It's no fun being short and having to lean way up to reach Reverse or second while shifting. And my last question is, will the 64 instrument cluster work in the 63? I kinda like the straight MPH Cluster better than the single round gauge.
P.S. Thanks for all the help, this forum is one of the best I've ever come across for looking for info.

You sure that 64 isn't a 65? 1965 was first year for 352 and sweep speedometer. Is the 1964 or 1965 a 2WD truck?

Honestly I'm not sure if it's 64 or 65 I havent looked at the vin, it's just what I was told by the seller on Facebook. I don't think they know to much about it unfortunately.

The FE is not "better" necessarily--I have a Y-Block that I love--but the FE will definitely give you more options for transmission swaps. Parts and expertise for the FE might be easier to get as well.

Putting a 352 FE will require major work and fabrication it's not a bolt in swap. If I was you I would start looking for an after market floor shift conversion for your three speed that would be the easiest and cheapest way to solve your problem. I don't know if anyone makes them anymore but you might find on searching Ebay or swap meets. I converted my 3 speed to the floor years ago.

Absolutely. But I thought the OP was looking to swap his 63 for the 64/5. Coulda read that wrong, though.

No need for the coffee. I was referring to using the 352 out of the "64," which I've now learned from y'all is probably "65+", and settling it down into mine. With no welder at the house yet though it's hard to do it. I do plan on picking up an arc welder in the next month or so whenever I get time enough to go get one. Does any one know about the 3 on the tree to the floor conversion? I thought i seen one for sale not long ago but wasn't sure how it all hooked up, and I really appreciate y'alls help with this.
