I have 1 problem - IAC does not work. The problem is, that solenoid is ok, but no signal from ECU. I have +12 V on 1 terminal of solenoid, but I have to press throutle till engine is warmed up. Is there any fuse in wires leading to ECU, tommorow I will chech wiring, but it seems to me key in ECU is bad... Who ever replaced it, where is located, and what key to use.....
ECU IAC output transistor grounds one IAC lead completing circuit and activating solenoid air valve
pin 21 on '93 3L ECU/PCM, white/lt. brown lead...i don't have EVTM for '89
test for continuity from IAC plug to ECU
test for ground at idle
Ford ECU's are very reliable...suspect everything else first
will even take 24v reverse polarity jump
ECU from Aero/Ranger/Explorer 3L up to about '92 should work...'92 >'93 is when Ford changed from bank injection to sequential port injection
2 injector driver circuits on older 3Ls....6 driver circuits on newer 3 Ls
or if you wanted to pull ECU wiring harness and injection harness plus ECU from newer 3L....make your '89 a sequentially injected dragstrip Killer
The first Idea - to open ECU and to replace transistor key, but I have no info....
I do it periodically with MB ECUs, but I habe many bad ECUs to do some experiments... I have only 1 ECU...
Yeah I have Idea to replace it, from '92-95 2.9V6 scorpio (Cologne engine)...
Ford publishes nothing on the ECU/PCM components and firmware...trade secrets...most of the surface mount components do not even have markings....Intel used to do Ford's ECU controller chips and ECU design
DaimlerCrysler does it to.... So I use x-rais to understand what is inside! But ECU is ruther cheap, abot $50 used here. I'm not sure, I guess 2.9 V6 Scorpio ECU fits aero....
