After seeing how all the members in this forum would drop and do for others, may I suggest this. A members only area (7.3 diesels) for those willing to help a fellow FTE'r with contact info (phone numbers) for those that may need help while traveling. I don't know if this is even possible, an area where only supporters can find contact information of other members. A list of people willing to lend a hand.
We have a system in place in the NWC just for that, works great! Troy Kennedy is a friend of mine and it really bothered me when he was so far away that I could't help. Those of us that wanted to gave our names and contact info to our chapter leader and he sent a copy of them to all that responded[I've got mine in my truck] Maybe the forum moderator could do the same here? Just a thought...............
Interesting idea, and I like it. Dan, Scott, is anything like this possible? I would be more than willing to have some contact info available to help out someone who is traveling.
We went through this already, but nothing ever came of it. If I am not mistaken, one person even offered to handle a spreadsheet with everyone who volunteered on it- but it never happened. I am all for it, and think its just a great idea! Hopefully something will happen now.
Let me check with my ISP if they will let me build an ASP.NET page in my "free space" I can create a database page with an e-mail app to keep everyone updated
It should be for supporting members only. This could be a perk for joining. Also if it would be internet based it should be password protected. When you volunteer your contact info you get a password to the database so you could print it. Include name and phone number(s) and possible services available. For example I have a shop and a trailor if needed. It should be for roadside assistance not for someone that chose to go wheeling and got stuck in the mud.
