I've bought a set of Energy Suspension cab mount rubbers for my '66. The ones that came out measure 7/8" thick, although they might have compressed a little over 35 years. The new ones are 1 1/4" thick. I'm concerned that this difference will cause problems, perhaps with the rag joint and with the alignment of the cab trim to the box trim. Does anyone know what the OE thickness is supposed to be, or has anyone put this kit in a 65/66? ( The kit is labelled '73-'79, but Energy Suspension told me that the kit fits a '66.)Thanks.

As it turns out, the difference in thickness is critical. With the new mounts correctly installed, and the cab put in place and snugged down, the steering column will not go in. I'll be sawing them to the correct thickness. Live and learn.

Eric. You shouldn't have to cut down the new mounts. Just loosen the saddle under the dash that holds the steering column to the dash so it can slide up and down until you get everything put in. You did get the cowl support mounts too didn't you? The body line won't line up if you don't replace them too.
I would always remember the carpenters advice, measure three times for every cut you make.
Actually, skip, the column would have to go up at the wheel end and there is of course no adjustment for that. The column goes in but the collar on the firewall sits 3/4" above the tube and the tube contacts the firewall and prevents the rubber sleeve and retainer plate from attaching from behind correctly. I anticipate also that I will experience a similar problem with the clutch linkage and brake lines if I continue. Thanks for looking on the bright side, though.

I was wondering what you figured out on the cab bushings? I am getting ready to do the same to mine, and I don't want to get the wrong ones. They told me the same thing about those 73-79 working on my truck.
