Torque Converter

Hey, I got a 351 W and a C 6 Tranny. I put the tranny on the motor and put it in my car everything looked good until i tryed to turn it over and it wouldnt go. Prior to bolting up the transmission i was turning over the motor and it worked great. so today i took the trans back off, and turned the motor and it turned again. But i was thinking, I bolted the torque converter on the flywheel first and then i connected the trans. Maby the torque converter was not engauged in the trans correctly. So i took the converter off and put it in the trans first. But heres my question, How many times should the torque converter go forward?? I put it on the shaft and it moved on. Then i turned it and put some pressure and it went in again, Then the last time i took the rubber hammer to it and turned it at the same time, and it went in again. It looks pretty far in that bell housing, but i can still move it side to side and it clinks. Does it go in a last time?? I need some info ASAP! Thanks!!

Hopefully you didn't damage the pump gears the first time you put it together wrong.

It should be in far enough now. Yes it flops around until its bolted to the flywheel.

Take the pump out and apart.

I know you didn't want to hear that.
