I have recently had a problem with my headlights cutting on and off.Since it is an intermittant problem its had been tough to chase down.In my manual it says there is a circuit breaker in the headlight switch.I have jiggled the wires to the lights and the switch when they cut off but it doesn't seem to matter. The cut off for a few seconds and then come back on.Any ideas??

I would look for a short. I didn't know about a circuit breaker.
Have you made any upgrades to like a H4 headlight or are they stock?
I upgraded to H4's and added relays up near the battery and I love the way they are brite at all times even at stop lights. The old wires are not rated for new headlights and cause them to dimm, I learned that here at FTE...
Couple of suggestion, before considering replacing switch, suggest checking headlight gound wire to frame are clean and secure at frame/body. Some time back took wire wheel to ground connections, connectors and otherwise, followed up with dielectric grease and have not experience problems since. Found poor ground tends to be lot of my problems with electrical circuits. Had a problem where lights would cut out occasionally, kinda exciting when it happened, found poor connection at the high/low beam connection, if recall eventually replaced. Also removed the light switch lever and cleaned it up, not sure if had any effect, but only took minute or two.

Thanx for the replies.I think I may go with an isolation relay set up of sorts when I start on the body work.I assumed it had one but I guess not.I'm going to look into the dimmer switch and grounds and see if I see anything out of place. It was pretty exiting the other night when they went on the blink on a gravel road out in the country!

The old headlight switchs are borderline for halogen lights, I've had alot of problems with my Mustangs, but the aftermarket switches fixes the problem. Some of the guys at stangnet were wiring in a relay to run the lights, but I found just replacing the switch worked on all of mine sofar.
Those old switches were noted for the internal breaker going bad. Yes, a bad ground can cause it, but 9 times out of 10, it's the switch. Clean up all your grounds for the lights and dimmer switch (good preventive maintinance) and see. I'll bet it's the switch.
