What will it cost?

Can anyone give me a rough cost and time line for what I would like to do to my 64 Ford F-100? (Check my gallery to get an idea of what I'm starting with.)

New hardware all around, New trim and seals all around, Frame sandblasted, Bed rhino liner for styleside, new wood for stepside, primer and paint job, and then alot $500 for odds and ends parts.

Mater

How much of the work are you doing? I'm going on 4 years and I don't even have it painted or uphoulstered yet. As you begin one phase of your project you either run into problems or you decide to fix or modify something else you see. Time line is so questionable even if you take it to a shop to do. One for instance is, Rhino lining sure you can spray it on but before you do you want the bed in great shape so metal work must be done as your sanding you discover the metal is rotten now you need to patch or replace the bed. You get the idea, so cost and time depends on what you want the final outcome to be. Good luck keep us posted on the progress

It's a very objective answer that you are looking for. It is really difficult to put a time or price on.

OverHaulin does it in 7 days, some people never stop. So I guess it would be somewhere between 7 days and infinity.
As far as the cost goes, same thing. The cheapest part I've found is 'free' (someone was generous) to bottomless pockets. It depends on how pristine (concourse restoration) or somewhere in between.
So, that is why you are getting answers like this, it varies GREATLY depending on your personal preference.

there are many factors in that area my friend. besides the obvious, and the things everyone told you about (always scary)

Sometimes there are other unforseen incidences like what happened to my truck. your engine hoist could bend and pop the front of your truck. That test drive can turn into a crash durby, next door neighbors baseball finds its self in your truck, trees! they are everywhere. so many things make differences. some of the hard to find griblets. Ohh crap, that spring that flung out and vanished.

Just do it and enjoy. dont want to rush too much and forget something critical.

With my truck, all I needed was 1 fender, tailgate, and minute body work.....now I need both fenders, grille, tailgate, radiator, rad support etc...basically just pushed my truck into another tax bracket so to speak. and no telling how much longer it wil take to fix it now.

Hey Mater, I didn't mean to sound harsh or for you to take it wrong, I answered your question about rhino lining. The phrase "you get the idea" was merely a statement that you'll run into everytime you build something. One thing leads to another then another you get the idea I should'nt have bolded the lettering it made it appear I was yelling but quite the opposite, one never knows how long or how much, weather keeping it stock with prestine parts or daily driver parts. Original FOMOCO or aftermarket, good paint job or great paint job. So you see it will take what it takes, the main thing is enjoy it, set goals to complete so much at a time.

Maybe this will give you an idea. I bought my 65 in the beginning of June and this is what I have spent:
Rebuilt carb $350.00
Brakes, master cylinder to wheel cylinders $225
Electronic ignition $70
Water pump, hoses, belts, heater core, plenum $200
Battery and create new tray $75
Door panels $130
R&R U-joints and center bearing $175
New exhaust $423
New tires $240
Wiring harnesses $230
Misc. hardware and trim $700
Welder and extra spray guns $500

I didn't do the u-joints but took the shaft out to a driveline service. Didn't do the exhaust system either. All else was done by me. Still need to buy two patch panels, weatherstriping and paint. Paint is around $800 and the weatherstrip probably at least $350. This will get me to stock condition as the body itself is in undamaged condition. Luckily the engine compression was good enough to tell me the engine has at least another 25,000 miles at a minimum. At 1,500 a year it will last awhile.

kool. the reason i ask is...lol
I park mine in different places depending on if and when I anticipate driving her.
I have 2 car attached ports on front. dont like leaving her in that bay while im at work. so that is a next day driver parking only.
have a car port on the back, i will pull her in there if I may or may not drive her the next day....still quick to get to.
otherwise I park her in my shop, which is where shes at right now. poor thing. i need to fix the brakes and all that crap that happened from the wreck.
I have driven to work from my shop, I just normally park it in there if i know I wont be driving it. shop it behind my house....actually about the same walk to the back carport. however shes indoors there and I feel better about parking it like that

iv thought about making my carports on the front of the house into an enclosed garage.

I'll probably never park in the drive way unless I plan to drive her for a couple days, because I just don’t think she'll be in a safe place there. I am the first house on my street and my street is right off a major road. Plus there are a few punks in the area that I don’t trust. A lot of younger kids don't appreciate or understand the values of an older car of truck. Thats why my son (2 yrs old) won't get the truck til he's about 30.

I hear that there are people in little white suits that can help you. They have jackets that make you give yourself a big hug.
