99 Expy EB 4.0 SOHC. Three of the power windows work fine, EXCEPT the driver's window. When I push "up", nothing. When I push "down", i hear a "click" from under the dash near the center console. I took the door panel apart and tried to see if anything was binding, but couldn't see anything. The fuses in the big box in the engine compartment are fine. I'm out of ideas. i need help ASAP, as the window is in the "down" position and need to get it up and fixed ASAP.
Thanks
Gerg
The driver's side control panel operates all windows EXCEPT drivers's window. Again, I checked the big fuses inside the engine compartment. Is there a speciall relay for the driver's switch (to operate the auto up/down feature)? If so, where would that be located. I don't think that there is a bad wire in the door boot (I haven't checked it yet- I'm at work), because the driver's door panel still works for the other windows and the door locks. ANY advice would be appreciated.
Use a test light to see if you are getting power to the motor in the door. If so, then the problem is within the motor. Here's a link to the fuse/relay diagrams. http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker...3d800ba8f3.jsp
Well, I don't know what the deal is. When I came out from work, I cranked up the engine, and the window worked. I did find a box of relays under the dash (offset to the right under the steering column), and I isolated the one that was making the "click" when I tried to up/down the window. I pulled it, looked for a replacement online (taking the #'s off the unit itself), then replaced it. Lo and behold, it worked fine after I reseated it, and it's worked fine ever since, both with the engine on and off (key in "on"/ ACC position). I will replace it ASAP (Pep Boys didn't have it- NAPA is on other side of town). Will Keep you posted. Thanks for the response!!
Strange, the same happened to me but it was one of the back windows. This summer when the weather was really hot, the back window wouldn't work. This was the same for about two weeks (the length of a summer in UK). When the weather went cooler it started to work again and has worked ever since. Call Mulder and Sculley!
